Sahibzada Farhan Breaks Virat Kohli’s All-Time Record

The highlight of the first innings was Sahibzada Farhan’s masterclass. During his knock, Farhan surpassed Virat Kohli’s long-standing record for the most runs scored in a single edition of a T20 World Cup.

  • Previous Record: 319 runs (Virat Kohli, 2014)
  • New Record: Sahibzada Farhan (Currently 320+ runs in the 2026 edition)

Farhan reached his second century of this tournament in just 59 balls, becoming the only player in history to score two hundreds in a single T20 World Cup campaign.

World Record Opening Partnership

Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan provided a breathtaking display of power hitting, stitching together a 176-run opening stand.

  • The Record: This is now the highest-ever partnership for any wicket in T20 World Cup history, eclipsing the previous best of 170.
  • Fakhar Zaman’s Fire: Fakhar played the perfect foil (and aggressor), smashing 84 off just 42 balls (SR 200.00) before being cleaned up by Dushmantha Chameera in the 16th over.

Semi-Final Qualification Scenario

Despite the fireworks, Pakistan’s path to the semi-finals remains a mathematical challenge due to their Net Run Rate (NRR).

  • The Target: Pakistan must defeat Sri Lanka by a margin of at least 64–65 runs to leapfrog New Zealand in Group 2.
  • Current Status: With a total eyeing the 220+ mark, the bowlers (led by Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah) will need to be clinical to ensure the margin of victory is sufficient.
